What to bring 

Rods:  If you are to bring just one rod, we would recommend you bring a fast 6wt 9’ rod. This is an all-around rod that will let you fish pretty much any environments we usually go to and it will let you cast a floating line for nymphs and big attractor dry patterns and a 250 grain sink tip as well in order to fish some streamers. Otherwise, you could bring a 5wt rod for dries and nymphs and a 7wt for streamers, mostly if you are to fish areas with bigger trout such as Rio Pico.

Lines:Weight Forward floating lines are desirable in order to cast big dry fly patterns through windy conditions. As for sinking lines we like to fish 200 or 250 grains 30 feet long Sink Tips, in order to make streamers sink fast and deep enough to get to where fish are holding at. I leave reels to your consideration weather you want large arbor, mid or regular; just be sure you have a good reliable drag on it.

Leaders & Tippets:We like to fish nylon for floating and fluorocarbon for sinking situations. Leaders in between 7 to 9 feet work very well, starting at 0X through 5X, although most of the time we will be fishing 2, 3 and 4X tippets as well.

Flies: A little suggested list of flies will follow, but bring your favorite boxes with you if you want. Anyways our guides carry a large selection of flies with them and they will be glad to share them with you!

Flies that you must fish while in Patagonia are Royal Wulff´s and Parachute Adams in small sizes such as 16 and 18´s, Elk Hair Caddis in 14 or 16´s, PMX different colors and Hoppers in 10 or 12, Chubby Chernobyl´s and Fat Alberts in 10 or 8, Woolly Buggers in 8 and 6 and last but not least some small bead head nymphs such as Pheasant Tails, Caddis Pupa, Frenchies or WD40s on 12 to 16 hook sizes. Of course feel free to bring your favorite patterns and we´ll be happy to try them as well.

Waders & Clothing: Weather could be unpredictable in Patagonia so you never know when you might need to wear your waders and rain gear or put another layer on to get warmer, but also be ready to wear your wading sandals as well. Temperatures could run between 45 to 90 degrees during summer. Don´t forget a fleece or your rain jacket, as you surely know is that day you´re not carrying it with you it will pour for sure.

Since March 2025 it is mandatory for foreigner tourists visiting Argentina to have valid health insurance or travel assistance during the entire length of their trip.
