Chubut is one of the 6 provinces (States) that shape Patagonia Argentina. It is located right in the center of the Patagonian map, distant 1200 miles from Buenos Aires. Is a vast territory that goes from the Andes to the Atlantic Ocean coastal line. The north-west part of it locates at the Andes, where there are hundreds of environments where trout and salmon found their home more than 100 years ago when they were introduced. They all reproduce wild without human assistance, so this means there are not stocked fish.

The fishing season in Patagonia starts November 1st and lasts until May 1st, and though there is excellent fishing through all season long, some habitats could have much better performances at different stages of the season, mostly depending on water levels based on runoffs. Top of the season starts mid-December with the Dragon Fly hatches and goes all the way to the end of February but early months of the season and the closing ones are also really good options.

We can find three major areas with several different fishing environments in each one of them, lakes and rivers that are considered world class fisheries that you might have hear from before since their reputation precedes them. These three major areas are Cholila, Esquel and Rio Pico.
